1Introduction and summaryالمقدمة والخلاصة

The prayer hall presents a loss of speech intelligibility that is audible without instruments. Reinforced speech arrives at a sufficient level but is not reliably understood, and the system is prone to feedback. This document sets out the basis on which that will be diagnosed and corrected.

يعاني الحرم من فقد في وضوح الكلام يُسمع دون أجهزة. فالكلام المضخَّم يصل بمستوى كافٍ لكنه لا يُفهم بشكل موثوق، والمنظومة عرضة للصفير. تحدّد هذه الوثيقة الأساس الذي سيُشخَّص عليه ذلك ويُصحَّح.

1.1Principal finding to dateالنتيجة الرئيسية حتى تاريخه

The governing problem is the ratio between sound arriving directly at a listener and sound arriving after reflection, not the absolute sound level. Every significant surface in the hall is reflective — marble walls, a marble mihrab, glazing and a hard ceiling on two levels — with carpet the only material providing meaningful absorption. Raising the level of the existing system raises both the direct and the reflected field together, and so does not improve intelligibility.

المشكلة الحاكمة هي النسبة بين الصوت الواصل مباشرةً إلى المستمع والصوت الواصل بعد الانعكاس، لا المستوى المطلق للصوت. فكل سطح مؤثر في القاعة عاكس — جدران رخام، ومحراب رخام، وزجاج، وسقف قاسٍ على مستويين — والسجاد هو المادة الوحيدة التي توفّر امتصاصاً مؤثراً. ورفع مستوى المنظومة الحالية يرفع الحقلين المباشر والمنعكس معاً، فلا يحسّن الوضوح.

RT60	Reverberation time — the time for sound to decay by 60 decibels after the source stops. Longer means a more reverberant room.زمن التردّد الصوتي — الزمن اللازم لخبو الصوت ٦٠ ديسيبل بعد توقف المصدر. وطوله يعني قاعة أكثر ترديداً.
STI	Speech transmission index, 0 to 1. A measure of how much of the speech signal survives the room and the system. Above 0.60 is generally required for reliable understanding.دليل نقل الكلام، من صفر إلى واحد. مقياس لمقدار ما يبقى من إشارة الكلام بعد عبورها القاعة والمنظومة. ويُشترط عادةً ما يفوق ٠٫٦٠ للفهم الموثوق.
Direct-to-reverberant ratioنسبة المباشر إلى المنعكس	The balance at a listener between sound arriving straight from the loudspeaker and sound arriving after bouncing off surfaces. This ratio, more than loudness, determines whether speech is understood.التوازن عند المستمع بين الصوت الواصل مباشرةً من السماعة والصوت الواصل بعد ارتداده عن الأسطح. وهذه النسبة، لا علوّ الصوت، هي التي تحدد فهم الكلام.
NC	Noise criterion — a single rating describing how much steady background noise a space has, from ventilation and similar sources.معيار الضجيج — تقييم مفرد يصف مقدار ضجيج الخلفية الثابت في الفراغ، من التهوية وما شابهها.
Octave bandنطاق الأوكتاف	Frequency range used to report acoustic results. Results are given per band because a room behaves differently at low and high frequencies.مجال ترددي تُذكر فيه النتائج الصوتية. وتُعطى النتائج لكل نطاق لأن القاعة تتصرف تصرفاً مختلفاً في الترددات المنخفضة والمرتفعة.

R-01	Highمرتفع	Two failure mechanisms may be present at once — a room problem (long, uneven decay) and a system problem (multiple loudspeakers arriving at different times). R-04	Mediumمتوسط	Background noise from air-conditioning and ceiling fans is not yet measured. Intelligibility depends on it as much as on reverberation.لم يُقَس بعد ضجيج الخلفية من التكييف ومراوح السقف. ووضوح الكلام يعتمد عليه بقدر اعتماده على التردّد الصوتي.
R-05	Mediumمتوسط	The existing system is undocumented — models, wiring, zoning, delay and polarity are all unknown. R-06	Mediumمتوسط	Occupancy changes the room. A system tuned in an empty mosque behaves differently at Jumu'ah. At least two occupancy states must be modelled.الإشغال يغيّر القاعة. المنظومة المضبوطة في جامع فارغ تتصرف تصرفاً مختلفاً يوم الجمعة. يجب نمذجة حالتي إشغال على الأقل.
R-07	Mediumمتوسط	Moisture damage was observed in ceiling bays.
